Purple Week: Purple Sensory Bin

Welcome to our PURPLE week!

We started off our purple week as we always do, with a sensory box of our purple objects:

We go around our playroom collecting all of our purple objects and say "purple" over and over again...

I had some purple grape scented rice as the base.  Coloring rice is very easy...you simply need some food coloring and 1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol.  Mix all the ingredients together then place it on some aluminum foil to let dry.  For this particular rice though I was inspired by this recipe from Play Create Explore's website (who also inspired our One Color, One Week series) and used Hawaiian Punch's Wild Purple Smash singles that I found at The Dollar Tree.  You'll want to make sure it's the sugar free one or else your rice will end up too sticky.  I used 2-3 packets for about 2 cups of uncooked rice and mixed it with 1 Tablespoon of vinegar:
When you're done, you will have some wonderfully smelling purple rice!
