Purple Water Beads!

I'm a huge fan of water beads; we play with them on a weekly basis.  I didn't have purple water beads, so I let Monkey J help me make some from our clear beads we had on hand:

We added some blue and red food coloring:

Monkey J got a bit carried away with the blue and we ended up with some very dark looking water beads:

So we decided to rinse some of the coloring off the beads:

Monkey J loved watching the water purple seep through the colander:

After some rinsing, we were left with some beautifully purple water beads!

We loved simply holding them up to the light and admiring their colors:
